Entitled, “The Path to the Cross”, this set of 5 documentaries follows teacher and historian Ray VanderLaan as he shares the story of Jesus and John the Baptist and their experiences in the dessert. Gold Addy Award Winner

Eric Schrotenboer Music, along with Sound Post Studios and Grey Matter Group, won a rare gold Addy Award in the catagory of Elements of Advertising-Music Only at the American Advertising Federation West Michigan 2010 Addy Awards. The music was scored for a Compassion International Response Video. The music is an intense and engaging two-piano score with melodic strings and bells. You can see the video by clicking here.
Jewish World Watch

Eric is currently working on writing music for multiple short films produced by Jewish World Watch. Working with cinematographer and director Mike Ramsdell, Eric is creating scores that will help put in context and tell the stories of people affected by the genocide that has happened in the Congo since 1998. These powerful stories will help the Jewish World Watch, an anti-genocide organization, to share what has happened and mobilize the communities to act. Most recently Eric’s music will be used in a short film for Campus Crusade’s ministry in Ethiopia. Campus Crusade is helping to fulfill the Great Commission,

The Voice of the Martyrs
Friday, September 25th, 2009Last week I had the privilege of working on a project with the The Image Group, of Holland, MI., for “The Voice of the Martyrs” ministry.
The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. It was an awesome project. The project that I got to work on was a film telling a story of persecution in Pakistan. It is a powerful story that was beautifully filmed and edited. “American Sailors” is screening this week at the Grand Rapids Film Festival. “American Sailors” will be shown along with other independent and family friendly films, August 26-28, at Celebration Cinema North during the first annual Grand Rapids Film Festival. I had the privilege last week of working with both the Grey Matter Group and Sound Post USA on a project for the non-profit ministry Compassion International.
Compassion International is breaking the cycle of poverty by matching children in need with sponsers who provide support through finances, prayer, gifts, letters, and encouragement. They “exist as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. The project I got to compose music for was a film produced by the Grey Matter Group for the Compassion International website. I will post the link to the film when it is is uploaded. Philadelphia International Film Festival Winner

Congratulations to Mike Ramsdell and his film, “The Anatomy Of Hate”, winner of the best Political Documentary at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival. In Mikes’ own words, “Anatomy of Hate, A dialogue to Hope had a great festival run in Philly this year. (Unfortunately, I had to be in Atlanta). Not only was the film chosen to play at the Film Market, but took home the best Politcal Documentary award. A fine compliment, considering that this town gave birth to the American Political system. You will be able to hear Eric’s music on WGN America’s TV station this July. Eric’s score will accompany the new television series pilot American Sailors. Hear some of the music cues here. The show will air nationally on July 4th at 9:00 PM eastern. In addition to this prime time slot there will be an encore airing on July 26th at 1:00 PM eastern. Sets 8,9 and 10 of the Ray VanderLaan teaching series distributed by Focus On The Family and Zondervan are in the last stages of post-productions and nearing completion. Eric has finished scoring 18 half hour lessons following Ray as he leads his group through Egypt, Israel, and Jordan on the path of Moses during the Biblical Exodus. With teaching centered around God’s preparation of his people and the lessons from their desert wandering, Eric’s music combined with powerful content and stunning imagery make these must see films.
